This teaching almost falls within the scope of the previous eight at this
web site concerning Biblical healing of soul and body because it deals
with practical daily faith and Christian living.
-
-
However, we see here the way that the Kingdom of God operates, leading
us on in increased wisdom and understanding, for God's glory, that we should
each become a disciple, a willing servant of the most High God, Jehovah.
And enduring to the end; a prince of the King.
-
-
The Kingdom of God; what is it?
-
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs
is the kingdom of heaven.
-
(Matthew 5:3)
-
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least
commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the
kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same
shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That
except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the
scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
-
(Matthew 5:19-20)
-
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites
are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the
corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto
you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy
closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in
secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for
they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye
therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need
of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father
which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be
done in earth, as it is in heaven.
-
(Matthew 6:5-10)
-
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching
the gospel of the kingdom of God, And saying, The
time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe
the gospel.
-
(Mark 1:14-15)
-
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know
the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all
these things are done in parables: That seeing they may see, and
not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any
time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven
them.
-
(Mark 4:11-12)
-
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That
there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death,
till they have seen the kingdom of God come with
power.
-
(Mark 9:1)
-
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive
the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
-
(Mark 10:15)
-
And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together,
and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the
first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, The
first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God
is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and
with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this
is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely
this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment
greater than these. And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master,
thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other
but he: And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding,
and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his
neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou
art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst
ask him any question.
-
(Mark 12:28-34)
-
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour
with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth
a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called
the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne
of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
-
(Luke 1:30-33)
-
And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom
of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
-
(Luke 4:43)
-
For I say unto you, Among those that are born of
women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that
is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.
-
(Luke 7:28)
-
And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village,
preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve
were with him, And certain women, which had been healed of evil
spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven
devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and
many others, which ministered unto him of their substance. And when much
people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city,
he spake by a parable: A sower went out to sow his
seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down,
and the fowls of the air devoured it. And some fell upon a rock; and as
soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture.
And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked
it. And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold.
And when he had said these things, he cried, He that
hath ears to hear, let him hear. And his disciples asked him, saying,
What might this parable be? And he said, Unto you
it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others
in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not
understand.
-
(Luke 8:1-10)
-
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority
over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom
of God, and to heal the sick.
-
(Luke 9:1-2)
-
And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done.
And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging
to the city called Bethsaida. And the people, when they knew it,
followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom
of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
-
(Luke 9:10-11)
-
And he said unto another, Follow me. But he
said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. Jesus said unto him,
Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach
the kingdom of God. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee;
but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And
Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand
to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
-
(Luke 9:59-62)
-
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them
two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself
would come. Therefore said he unto them, The harvest
truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore
the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Carry neither
purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. And into whatsoever
house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. And if the son
of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn
to you again. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things
as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house
to house. And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat
such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein,
and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. But into whatsoever
city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets
of the same, and say, Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on
us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that
the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
-
(Luke 10:1-11)
-
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he
ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as
John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When
ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
-
(Luke 11:1-2)
-
Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not,
they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was
not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is
to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more
will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? And seek not ye what ye
shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. For
all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father
knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom
of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little
flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
-
(Luke 12:27-32)
-
And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and
all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like?
and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed,
which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great
tree; and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it. And
again he said, Whereunto shall I liken the kingdom
of God? It is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures
of meal, till the whole was leavened.
-
(Luke 13:17-21)
-
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many,
I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once
the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye
begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open
unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye
are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence,
and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know
you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.
There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham,
and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and
you yourselves thrust out. And they shall come from the east, and
from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and
shall sit down in the kingdom of God. And, behold, there are last which
shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.
-
(Luke 13:24-30)
-
Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou
makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither
thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again,
and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor,
the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot
recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the
just. And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these
things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in
the kingdom of God. Then said he unto him, A certain
man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper
time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said
unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see
it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke
of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another
said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So that servant
came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being
angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of
the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and
the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded,
and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into
the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house
may be filled. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden
shall taste of my supper. And there went great multitudes with him:
and he turned, and said unto them, If any man
come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children,
and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my
disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot
be my disciple. For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not
down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to
finish it? Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is
not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
-
(Luke 14:12-30)
-
And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and
they derided him. And he said unto them, Ye are they
which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that
which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom
of God is preached, and every man presseth into it. And it is easier for
heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Whosoever
putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever
marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.
-
(Luke 16:14-18)
-
And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the
midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village,
there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they
lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go
shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as
they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was
healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down
on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed?
but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give
glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise,
go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. And when he was demanded
of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them
and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither
shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God
is within you.
-
(Luke 17:11-21)
-
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer
little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the
kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the
kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
-
(Luke 18:16-17)
-
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How
hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! For it
is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man
to enter into the kingdom of God. And they that heard it
said, Who then can be saved? And he said, The things
which are impossible with men are possible with God. Then Peter
said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. And he said unto them, Verily
I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren,
or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, Who shall not receive
manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
-
(Luke 18:24-30)
-
And as they heard these things, he added and spake
a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that
the kingdom of God should immediately appear. He said therefore, A certain
nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and
to return. And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds,
and said unto them, Occupy till I come. But his citizens hated him, and
sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign
over us. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received
the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to
whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had
gained by trading. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained
ten pounds. And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou
hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds. And
he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities. And another came,
saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid
up in a napkin: For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou
takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.
And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou
wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that
I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow: Wherefore then gavest
not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required
mine own with usury? And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him
the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds. (And they said
unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.) For I say unto you, That unto every
one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he
hath shall be taken away from him. But those mine enemies, which would
not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before
me.
-
(Luke 19:11-27)
-
Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the passover must be killed.
And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare
us the passover, that we may eat. And they said unto him, Where
wilt thou that we prepare? And he said unto them, Behold,
when ye are entered into the city, there shall a man meet you, bearing
a pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he entereth in. And
ye shall say unto the goodman of the house, The Master saith unto thee,
Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
And he shall shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
And they went, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready
the passover. And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles
with him. And he said unto them, With desire I have
desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: For I say unto you,
I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of
God. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take
this, and divide it among yourselves: For I say unto you, I will
not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto
them, saying, This is my body which is given for
you: this do in remembrance of me. Likewise also the cup after supper,
saying, This cup is the new testament in my
blood, which is shed for you.
-
(Luke 22:7-20)
-
And he said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles
exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them
are called benefactors. But ye shall not be so: but he that
is greatest among you, let him be as the younger; and he that is chief,
as he that doth serve. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at
meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I
am among you as he that serveth. Ye are they which have continued with
me in my temptations. And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father hath
appointed unto me; That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom,
and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
-
(Luke 22:25-30)
-
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If
thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him,
saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this
man hath done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me
when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily
I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
-
(Luke 23:39-43)
-
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily,
verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the
kingdom of God.
-
(John 3:3)
-
Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and
said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews? Jesus answered him, Sayest
thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? Pilate
answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered
thee unto me: what hast thou done? Jesus answered, My
kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would
my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now
is my kingdom not from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him, Art
thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that
I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the
world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every
one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
-
(John 18:33-37)
-
Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the
sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the
sword, and his young men shall be discomfited. And he shall pass over to
his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign,
saith the LORD, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in
judgment. And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert
from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a
great rock in a weary land. And the eyes of them that see shall not be
dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.
-
(Isaiah 31:8 - 32:3)
-
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name
is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also
that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of
the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
-
(Isaiah 57:15)
-
-
Those were the days before the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, therefore
before the New Covenant between God and man's Covenant Representative,
Lord Jesus Christ.
-
Here's the Way to become a citizen of the Kingdom of God, the unchanging
Kingdom, to us who love the privilege of living in the times of the New
Testament:
-
If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray
the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide
with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot
receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him;
for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless:
I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more;
but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. At that day ye shall
know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that
hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and
he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and
will manifest myself to him.
-
(John 14:15-21)
-
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and
bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth,
give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
-
(John 14:26-27)
-
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began
both to do and teach, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that
he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom
he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by
many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of
the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: And, being assembled together
with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye
have heard of me. For John truly baptised with water; but ye shall be baptised
with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were
come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time
restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It
is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath
put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
-
(Acts 1:1-8)
-
But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same
city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that
himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least
to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him
they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom
of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and
women. Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptised, he continued
with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were
done.
-
(Acts 8:9-13)
-
And there came thither certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium, who
persuaded the people, and, having stoned Paul, drew him out of the
city, supposing he had been dead. Howbeit, as the disciples stood round
about him, he rose up, and came into the city: and the next day he departed
with Barnabas to Derbe. And when they had preached the gospel to that city,
and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium,
and Antioch, Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting
them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation
enter into the kingdom of God.
-
(Acts 14:19-22)
-
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed
through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And
they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy
Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptised? And they
said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptised with the
baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe
on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they
heard this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus. And
when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them;
and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about
twelve. And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space
of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom
of God. But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil
of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated
the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus. And this
continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia
heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks. And God wrought
special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought
unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them,
and the evil spirits went out of them.
-
(Acts 19:1-12)
-
And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.
And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first
day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all
seasons, Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears,
and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews: And
how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed
you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house, Testifying
both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith
toward our Lord Jesus Christ. And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit
unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save
that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions
abide me. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear
unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry,
which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace
of God. And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching
the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more. Wherefore I take you to
record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take
heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the
Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he
hath purchased with his own blood. For I know this, that after my departing
shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of
your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away
disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space
of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.
-
(Acts 20:17-31)
-
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the
Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men
and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people,
or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem
into the hands of the Romans. Who, when they had examined me, would have
let me go, because there was no cause of death in me. But when the
Jews spake against it, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar;
not that I had ought to accuse my nation of. For this cause therefore have
I called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because
that for the hope of Israel I am bound with this chain. And they said unto
him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither
any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee. But we
desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect,
we know that every where it is spoken against. And when they had appointed
him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to whom he expounded
and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both
out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from morning till
evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed
not.

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the
Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him.
-
(Acts 28:31)
-
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing
unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to
him it is unclean. But if thy brother be grieved with thy
meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for
whom Christ died. Let not then your good be evil spoken of: For the kingdom
of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in
the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable
to God, and approved of men. Let us therefore follow after the things which
make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. For meat destroy
not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is
evil for that man who eateth with offence. It is good neither to
eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother
stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak. Hast thou faith? have it
to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in
that thing which he alloweth. And he that doubteth is damned if he eat,
because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of
faith is sin.
-
(Romans 14:14-23)
-
For the kingdom of God is
not in word, but in power.
-
(1 Corinthians 4:20)
-
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the
lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit
against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that
ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit,
ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which
are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry,
witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which
I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit
of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness,
faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that
are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If
we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous
of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
-
(Galatians 5:16-26)
-
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and
a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all
uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh
saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are
not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no
whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive
you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God
upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord:
walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all
goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto
the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those
things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved
are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead,
and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly,
not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord
is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled
with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks
always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
-
(Ephesians 5:1-21)
-
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful
in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened
with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and
longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath
made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us
into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his
blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible
God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created,
that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether
they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all
things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and
by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church:
who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things
he might have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in
him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood
of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I
say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And
you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked
works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death,
to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight: If
ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved
away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which
was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am
made a minister;
-
(Colossians 1:10-23)
-
For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night
and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached
unto you the gospel of God. Ye are witnesses, and God also,
how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that
believe: As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one
of you, as a father doth his children, That ye would walk worthy
of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory. For this cause
also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of
God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word
of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh
also in you that believe.
-
(1 Thessalonians 2:9-13)
-
Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians
in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We are bound to thank God
always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth
exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other
aboundeth; So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for
your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that
ye endure: Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of
God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye
also suffer: Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense
tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest
with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty
angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and
that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished
with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the
glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and
to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you
was believed) in that day. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that
our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the
good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:
That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye
in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
-
(2 Thessalonians 1:1-12)
-
Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions,
rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. Now the end
of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good
conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
-
(1 Timothy 1:4-5)
-
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who
shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach
the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort
with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will
not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to
themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their
ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in
all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full
proof of thy ministry.
-
(2 Timothy 4:1-5)
-
Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me
the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might
hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. And the Lord shall
deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly
kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
-
(2 Timothy 4:17-18)
-
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this
day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he
shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten
into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And
of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers
a flame of fire. But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is
for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of
thy kingdom.
-
(Hebrews 1:5-8)
-
And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling,
that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse
not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake
on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away
from him that speaketh from heaven: Whose voice then shook the earth:
but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only,
but also heaven. And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing
of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those
things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving a kingdom
which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably
with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.
-
(Hebrews 12:24-29)
-
Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have
obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and
our Saviour Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through
the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power
hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby
are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these
ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption
that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence,
add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance;
and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness
brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things
be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be
barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he
that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten
that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give
diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things,
ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly
into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Wherefore
I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things,
though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea,
I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by
putting you in remembrance; Knowing that shortly I must put off
this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have
these things always in remembrance.

John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you,
and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and
from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ,
who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the
dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us,
and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and
priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for
ever and ever. Amen. Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall
see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the
earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. I am Alpha and Omega, the
beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and
which is to come, the Almighty. I John, who also am your brother, and companion
in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in
the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony
of Jesus Christ. I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind
me a great voice, as of a trumpet,
-
(Revelation 1:4-10)
-
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the
dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither
was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast
out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the
whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out
with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation,
and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ:
for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before
our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb,
and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto
the death.

How does all this affect us today?
-
-
Living in the world, or living in the Spirit.
-
-
On our return from a long journey, we arrived home to our cottage in a
retirement village to find that our garden had been neglected and needed
immediate watering by hand, our immediate neighbour's wife had been taken
to hospital in the City, etc. Not a good homecoming after only one week
away. We both went out the back door for various reasons and I locked it
for the night, only to discover that it was necessary to go out back once
more. However, the lock had jammed in the locked position and could not
be unlocked despite repeated attempts by various means. This meant that
the pins in the hinges of the door would have to be knocked out so that
the door could be forced open from the hinge side. Moreover the door was
in two leaves, being a stable door with a weather rebate between the two.
Moreover there was a screen door on the outside, bolted from the inside.
Etc.
-
Sleeping heavily for a couple of hours, most of the night was spent in
worrying how all the difficulties would be overcome, recognising once more
that this was a spiritual manifestation and an attack from the god of this
world.
-
Oversleeping, I awoke feeling like a zombie and getting up went through
to the living area to find that the back door was open!
-
On asking the other half of our covenant partnership how this had happened,
she said "In the night I asked the Lord to open the lock, tried to open
it this morning, asked Him again this morning, grasped the door handle,
pulled and unlocked the door.

Believing. What the Bible calls faith.

-
A similar miracle happened at a Bible fellowship meeting in Kempton Park
a few years ago. After the meeting my son Kevin informed me that the keys
had been left in the ignition of his car and the doors were locked. Could
I look? On walking round the car a couple of times checking the doors,
it was discovered that the passenger's side front door did not appear to
be fully closed. On pushing the door fully closed the bolt popped up and
the door was opened.

Have you a doubt in your mind as to the spiritual nature to the two occurrences?

We were there!
And this be a sign unto you (Luke 2:12a).

-
What did Jesus of Nazareth teach us?
-
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the
heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much
speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what
things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
-
(Matthew 6:7-8)
-
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we
eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For
after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father
knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take
thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the
evil thereof.
-
(Matthew 6:31-34)
-
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither
cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet,
and turn again and rend you. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and
ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that
asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh
it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread,
will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children,
how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to
them that ask him? Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should
do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad
is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which
go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is
the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

What else does the Bible teach us?
-
There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named
Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters
of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. And they were both righteous
before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord
blameless. And they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and
they both were now well stricken in years. And it came to pass,
that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his
course, According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to
burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. And the whole multitude
of the people were praying without at the time of incense. And there appeared
unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of
incense. And when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell
upon him. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer
is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt
call his name John. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall
rejoice at his birth. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and
shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with
the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb. And many of the children of
Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him
in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to
the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready
a people prepared for the Lord. And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby
shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.
And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the
presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these
glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until
the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not
my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city
of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was
Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. And
the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly
favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in
her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto
her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold,
thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call
his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest:
and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And
he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there
shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing
I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost
shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee:
therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called
the Son of God. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived
a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called
barren. For with God nothing
shall be impossible.

But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver
you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall
be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against
them. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when
they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand
what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be
given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but
the Holy Ghost.
-
(Mark 13:9-11)
-
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man,
no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For
the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house,
and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded
the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master
of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or
in the morning: Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. And what I say
unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Here's a lesson for us from the time of a siege of Jerusalem:
-
And he discovered the covering of Judah, and thou didst look in that day
to the armour of the house of the forest. Ye have seen also the breaches
of the city of David, that they are many: and ye gathered together the
waters of the lower pool. And ye have numbered the houses of Jerusalem,
and the houses have ye broken down to fortify the wall. Ye made also a
ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but ye have
not looked unto the maker thereof, neither had respect unto him that fashioned
it long ago. And in that day did the Lord GOD of hosts call to weeping,
and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth: And behold
joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh, and drinking
wine: let us eat and drink; for to morrow we shall die. And it was revealed
in mine ears by the LORD of hosts, Surely this iniquity shall not be purged
from you till ye die, saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

An example to live up to:
-
*A Psalm of Asaph.* Truly God is good to Israel, even to
such as are of a clean heart. But as for me, my feet were almost gone;
my steps had well nigh slipped. For I was envious at the foolish, when
I saw the prosperity of the wicked. For there are no bands in their
death: but their strength is firm. They are not in trouble
as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. Therefore
pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as
a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart
could wish. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression:
they speak loftily. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their
tongue walketh through the earth. Therefore his people return hither: and
waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. And they say, How doth
God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? Behold, these are
the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in
innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every
morning. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against
the generation of thy children. When I thought to know this, it was
too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then
understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places:
thou castedst them down into destruction. How are they brought into
desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. As
a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest,
thou shalt despise their image. Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked
in my reins. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast
before thee. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast
holden me by my right hand. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel,
and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but
thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside
thee. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength
of my heart, and my portion for ever. For, lo, they that are far from thee
shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in
the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

THE TRANSFORMED LIFE
-
-
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
-
(Romans 12:2)

The apostle Paul knew the secret of the victorious, happy, useful Christian
life. He wrote to the church at Rome and in turn to all churches of all
ages and revealed the mystery and glory of the transformed life. He warned
the early Christians not to be conformed to this world. He knew the danger
of being a halfway Christian, a part-time church attendant, a half hearted
servant of Jesus Christ. Paul urged the church at Rome not to become conformed
to this world. What would He say to many churches of our day who have sought
to become like the world in order to attract the world. There are churches
which promote bingo games for profit, sponsor dances and put their approval
upon social drinking. The most wicked sinner is comfortable at their services.

In a New Testament church there must be a new birth, a new creature,
a new man, a complete transformation. Nothing stirs the church and rejoices
the brethren like these new converts coming into the church from Lord's
day to Lord's day. Nothing will so deeply convert the world as when the
people see one of their own group changed completely by the transforming
power of Christ. This is the plan of God for His church to be the light
of the world and the salt of the earth. Those who wear no name but His
name, who have no book but His book, will certainly be recognised by men
and blessed of God.

Dear Father in heaven, help us to transform our lives completely
according to the example Thou hast set for us. Help us to lead others to
Thee.

Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy
fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep
the sayings of this book: worship God. And he saith unto me, Seal not the
sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that
is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be
filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and
he that is holy, let him be holy still. And, behold,
I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as
his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the
first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that
they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates
into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and
murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
