With All His Saints
-
To be studied thoroughly, this writing should be printed out and read from
the hard copy.
-
-
This started with something that my wife showed me from her daily reading
of God's word and it was as if a light suddenly shined from within, even
if it was as yet decidedly dim.
-
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another,
and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end
he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our
Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
-
(1 Thessalonians 3:12-13)
-
-
In the context of this web site1 there are three kinds of people:
-
The wicked, the worldly and the saints.
-
-
The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying, What mean ye, that ye
use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have
eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? As
I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more
to use this proverb in Israel. Behold,
all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the
son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. But if a man be
just, and do that which is lawful and right, And hath not eaten
upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the
house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath
come near to a menstruous woman, And hath not oppressed any, but
hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence,
hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any
increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed
true judgment between man and man, Hath walked in my statutes, and hath
kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live,
saith the Lord GOD. If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder
of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,
And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon
the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife, Hath oppressed the poor
and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and
hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination, Hath
given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he
shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die;
his blood shall be upon him. Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth
all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not
such like, That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath
lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled
his neighbour's wife, Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the
pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread
to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment, That hath
taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor
increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall
not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live. As for
his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence,
and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even
he shall die in his iniquity. Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the
iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and
right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall
surely live. The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear
the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity
of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the
wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn
from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and
do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned
unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live. Have I
any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and
not that he should return from his ways, and live? But when the righteous
turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and
doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth,
shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned:
in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned,
in them shall he die. Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear
now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?
When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth
iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he
die. Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness
that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall
save his soul alive. Because he considereth, and turneth away from all
his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall
not die. Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the Lord is not equal.
O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal? Therefore
I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith
the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions;
so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions,
whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit:
for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
-
(Ezekiel 18:1-31)
-
-
Today, the above is not only for the Jews. Also, it covers only the first
two categories of people as above.
-
The third class of menkind belong to Jesus and He belongs to them because
they have already changed direction.
-
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto
the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by
his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also
he made the worlds;
-
(Hebrews 1:1-2)
-
-
If we study the following passage of Scripture we cannot help noticing
that the saints of the Old Covenant were a special kind of people:
-
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not
found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had
this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible
to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
-
(Hebrews 11:5-6)
-
By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son
of Pharaoh's daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people
of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the
reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had
respect unto the recompence of the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not
fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
-
(Hebrews 11:24-27)
-
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon,
and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of
David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued
kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths
of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword,
out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight
the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again:
and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain
a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and
scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned,
they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered
about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in
mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having
obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
-
(Hebrews 11:32-39)
-
Only some people became saints.
-
-
What about the saints of Jesus Christ?
-
God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should
not be made perfect.
-
(Hebrews 11:40)
-
This is confirmed:
-
And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write;
These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven
stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art
dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready
to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore
how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If
therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou
shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few
names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall
walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same
shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out
of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and
before his angels.
-
(Revelation 3:1-5)
-
-
Are you living this kind of life?
-
-
Will you be a saint?
-
-
Do you want to be one of Christ's saints?
-
-
Who are Christ's saints?
-
-
Those who belong to
Jesus.
-
-
This development of a person into a believer, then into a saint is as follows:
-
-
-
Firstly, they who believe, willingly submit their pride to God
and are then supernaturally converted by God's power.
-
They are at this juncture saved.
-
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God
unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also
to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith
to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath
of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness
of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
-
(Romans 1:16-18)
-
-
The majority of attendees at most mainline churches believe - and there
it stops. They therefore fail to receive God's spiritual power.
-
-
Here's a thought that has just been revealed that you and I should muse
over:
-
We only become converted when we each submit our wills to God2.
Our wills are our souls. We therefore give our souls back to God to oversee
through His Spirit.
-
This is done by accepting Jesus Christ as Master3.
-
We can only do this when we really believe that God is who He says
He is and completely trust Him.
-
This only is repentance.
-
-
We therefore willingly give up our independence knowing that He
shall look after us.
-
This only is faith.
-
-
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when
he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong
in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he
had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed
to him for righteousness. Now it was not written for his sake alone, that
it was imputed to him; But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if
we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was
delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
-
(Romans 4:19-25)
-
-
This giving our souls over to the control of God, is surely then an
imperfect type of resurrection body.
-
-
Imperfect because our souls are still with us and we can be tempted by
Satan's unclean spirits into all sorts of worldly sins. It would also seem
that these are the saints that Daniel and John saw and spoke of:
-
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they
worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is
able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking
great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue
forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against
God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in
heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome
them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not
written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the
world. If any man have an ear, let him hear. He that leadeth into captivity
shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed
with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
-
(Revelation 13:4-10)
-
-
However, as we shall see, the saints that come with God and Jesus, as described
in Zechariah and 1 Thessalonians chapter three have resurrection bodies!
They have already been resurrected.
-
-
We understand therefore that the Bible mentions two kinds of saints:
-
Those who are living saintly lives while on earth and those who have been
resurrected and have spiritual bodies.
-
-
-
Secondly, those people who wish to become saints will seriously
attempt to obey God's wishes:
-
Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me,
he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto
him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my
sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which
sent me.
-
(John 14:23-24)
-
But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy,
so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written
in the law and in the prophets: And have hope toward God, which they themselves
also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the
just and unjust. And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience
void of offence toward God, and toward men.
-
(Acts 24:14-16)
-
Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the
unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall
judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy
to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels?
how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments
of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed
in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise
man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law
one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather
suffer yourselves to be defrauded? Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud,
and that your brethren.
-
(1 Corinthians 6:1-8)
-
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy
of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness,
with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep
the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body,
and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One
Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is
above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is
given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he
saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave
gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended
first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same
also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the
work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all
come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried
about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth
in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even
Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by
that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in
the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying
of itself in love. This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that
ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God
through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their
heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness,
to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ;
If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth
is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old
man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed
in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after
God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away
lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one
of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your
wrath: Neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole steal no more:
but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which
is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication
proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying,
that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit
of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness,
and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from
you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving
one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
-
(Ephesians 4:1-32)
-
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and
a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all
uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh
saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are
not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no
whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater,
hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive
you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God
upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord:
walk as children of light: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all
goodness and righteousness and truth;) Proving what is acceptable unto
the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness,
but rather reprove them.
-
(Ephesians 5:1-11)
-
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,
let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us,
and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto
Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that
was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down
at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such
contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint
in your minds.
-
(Hebrews 12:1-3)
-
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For
our God is a consuming fire.
-
(Hebrews 12:28-29)
-
-
If you would like to understand this more clearly, please study Luke chapter
twelve and the forst twenty seven verses of Luke chapter nineteen.
-
**************
-
-
From reading the Old Covenant, we can see many instances where the comings
of the Messiah are prophesied by the servants of God of that time.
-
These prophecies were dimly seen and misinterpreted by the teachers, scribes,
Pharisees etc. Their worldliness or denomination got in the way and because
they did not understand that the Messiah was coming more than once. Jesus
of Nazareth, even though He was born at the right time, in the right town
and entered Jerusalem on the right day according to Daniel's prophecy,
was not accepted as their King because they were expecting a worldly King
to rid them of the Romans just as themselves were worldly.
-
-
As a side issue, does this not show that God is omnipotent in that He knew
that Satan's servants would ensure that Jesus would be crucified and so
fulfil the main purpose of of the ministry of Jesus - His Blood Covenant3
as man's representative with the God of creation. See Romans 9:22-23 and
1 Corinthians 2:7-8.
-
-
Getting back to the purpose of this writing however and concerning the
Pharisees and servants of Satan today who rewrite their bibles to suit
their denominational doctrines, or who make a stand on their limited understanding
of God's word, let's see what God has to say to us and perhaps understand
a little better the glory that awaits His saints.
-
-
For example, as has repeatedly been reported on this web site1
many people in certain denominations do not believe in the gifts of the
Holy Spirit, while others believe that all Christians must speak in tongues;
both of which beliefs are unbiblical.
-
-
God warns us many times from His word that this shall occur.
-
-
Another major stumbling block to the Christian community as a whole is
that of the timing of the return of Christ Jesus as King.
-
The majority of Christians believe that He shall return before the Great
Tribulation, others believe that He will return midway through the seven
year tribulation and still others, after.
-
-
The purpose of this writing is to put the horse once more
before the cart and therefore does not attempt to prove any one theory,
but is written as an example, for us to look at the possibility of being
led astray and to be ready for any eventuality.
-
-
As an illustration of what is meant, the following passage of Scripture
shows that when Jesus (The Lamb) died on the cross and before He was resurrected,
the Old Covenant ended because the veil that separated the holy of holies
from the rest of the temple was rent from top to bottom. At this time the
bodies of some of the Old Covenant saints rose. Nobody was expecting
them? Did they have resurrected bodies as described in 1 Corinthians chapter
fifteen? Who did they appear to?:
-
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the
bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were
opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of
the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared
unto many.
-
(Matthew 27:50-53)
-
If we carefully study the above we see that the bodies of some of those
saints rose before Jesus was resurrected, but only came out of the graves
after His resurrection. Was there any difference between the bodies of
the saints before and after the resurrection of Jesus?
-
Also, they were the first of His saints?
-
-
Here's the first-mentioned passage again:
-
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another,
and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end
he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our
Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
-
(1 Thessalonians 3:12-13)
-
We see here that Christian love to each other is also having the privilege
of showing each other the truth for the purpose that the Lord may establish
your hearts unblameable in holiness before God. (2 Timothy 2:24-25)
-
This confirms the statement that we must be ready for whatever may happen
if we wish to be one of His saints.
-
We also see that all His saints are there. All who are in the Lamb's
book of Life. All who have accepted Him as Lord from the Old and New Covenants
and other religions?
-
-
From the following it would appear that Christ is only coming once more:
-
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that
look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
-
(Hebrews 9:28)
-
**************
-
-
By now we already know that man has a spirit, a soul and a body, so we
won't go into it again.
-
-
However, from the following passages, we can see that:
-
-
God has a Spirit:
-
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon
the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters.
-
(Genesis 1:2)
-
-
Angels are spirits:
-
But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until
I make thine enemies thy footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits,
sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
-
(Hebrews 1:13-14)
-
-
Satan and his demons are unclean spirits that chose (they have wills) to
rebel against their Creator.
-
But he, knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every
kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided
against a house falleth. If Satan also be divided against himself, how
shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through
Beelzebub. And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your sons
cast them out? therefore shall they be your judges. But if I with
the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come
upon you. When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in
peace: But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him,
he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his
spoils. He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not
with me scattereth. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh
through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return
unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it
swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other
spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and
the last state of that man is worse than the first.
-
(Luke 11:17-26)
-
-
The spirit of man goes back to God.
-
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall
return unto God who gave it.
-
(Ecclesiastes 12:7)
-
-
The souls of men of the Old Covenant went to hell or Hades, which is a
temporary holding place or prison, and there are apparently separate compartments.
-
There is Meshech, Tubal, and all her multitude: her graves are
round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword, though
they caused their terror in the land of the living. And they shall not
lie with the mighty that are fallen of the uncircumcised, which
are gone down to hell with their weapons of war: and they have laid their
swords under their heads, but their iniquities shall be upon their bones,
though they were the terror of the mighty in the land of the living.
Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and shalt
lie with them that are slain with the sword. There is Edom,
her kings, and all her princes, which with their might are laid by them
that were slain by the sword: they shall lie with the uncircumcised,
and with them that go down to the pit. There be the princes of the
north, all of them, and all the Zidonians, which are gone down with the
slain; with their terror they are ashamed of their might; and they lie
uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword, and bear their
shame with them that go down to the pit.
-
(Ezekiel 32:26-30)
-
-
What happens to our souls when we die or our bodies are resurrected?
-
-
As we saw in Ezekiel eighteen above, they belong to God in any event.
-
-
In the days before Noah, the spirits of dead men were placed in a spiritual
prison.
-
For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that
he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened
by the Spirit: By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited
in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is,
eight souls were saved by water.
-
(1 Peter 3:18-20)
-
For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead,
that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according
to God in the spirit.
-
(1 Peter 4:6)
-
-
The thief on the cross was, on death, immediately with the unresurrected
Jesus. This would seem to indicate his soul only, because his spirit had
gone to God.
-
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee,
To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
-
(Luke 23:42-43)
-
-
God also has a soul:
-
Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth;
I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
-
(Isaiah 42:1)
-
Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I
make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.
-
(Jeremiah 6:8)
-
-
Immediately after the resurrection of Jesus, it would appear that He first
went to God and only afterward appeared to the disciples.
-
But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped
down, and looked into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white
sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body
of Jesus had lain. And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She
saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where
they have laid him. And when she had thus said, she turned herself back,
and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith unto
her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou?
She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou
have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take
him away. Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She
turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master. Jesus
saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended
to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my
Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Mary
Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that
he had spoken these things unto her. Then the same day at evening, being
the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples
were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst,
and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
-
(John 20:11-19)
-
-
Jesus had a resurrection body that could pass through walls and He could
change His appearance. Also he ate food.
-
And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:
then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and
said, Peace be unto you. Then saith
he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold
my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side:
and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said
unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas,
because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they
that have not seen, and yet have believed. And many other
signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written
in this book:
-
(John 20:26-30)
-
And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he
took it, and did eat before them.
-
(Luke 24:42-43)
-
-
The resurrected Jesus Christ rose through the clouds. This seems to be
a parallel to the rapture passage in 1 Thessalonians:
-
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they
should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the
promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye
have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized
with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were
come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time
restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It
is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath
put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost
is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,
and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken
up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked
stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in
white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing
up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
-
(Acts 1:4-11)
-
-
At the last trump we shall be raised up incorruptible (with an everlasting
body). There is no mention here of our souls, but of spiritual bodies.
-
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of
God: I speak this to your shame. But some man will say, How
are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool,
that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: And that which
thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it
may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a
body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh
is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh
of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another
of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial:
but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the
terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and
another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one
star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the
resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness;
it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual
body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it
is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is
spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is
the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also
that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also
that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall
also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh
and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit
incorruption. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but
we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the
last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible
shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality,
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed
up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is
thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin
is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast,
unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know
that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
-
(1 Corinthians 15:34-58)
-
-
Also, it would seem that we shall judge angels who are spirits. This indicates
that we shall be in authority over them:
-
Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the
unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall
judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy
to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels?
how much more things that pertain to this life?
-
(1 Corinthians 6:1-3)
-
-
Is our resurrection body more than a spiritual body?
-
-
Here's a description of the home of the saints:
-
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first
earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy
city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a
bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven
saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell
with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with
them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their
eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither
shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And
he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he
said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said
unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I
will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life
freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his
God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the
abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire
and brimstone: which is the second death. And there came unto me one of
the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues,
and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the
Lamb's wife. And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain,
and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven
from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a
stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
-
(Revelation 21:1-11)
-
And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are
the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon,
to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is
the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in
the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour
into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there
shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the
nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that
defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh
a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
-
(Revelation 21:22-27)
-
And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding
out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the midst of the street of
it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life,
which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit
every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of
the nations. And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and
of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they
shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And
there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of
the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever
and ever. And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true:
and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants
the things which must shortly be done. Behold, I come quickly: blessed
is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
-
(Revelation 22:1-7)
-
He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let
him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still:
and he that is holy, let him be holy still. And,
behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every
man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning
and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that
do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and
may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs,
and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever
loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel
to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the
offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And
the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the
water of life freely.
-
(Revelation 22:11-17)
-
-
Incidentally, we see here who shall not enter in: those who have not obeyed
His commandments, and those in willing sin.

-
The following section highlights various Scripture passages that describe
future events concerning the coming of Christ Jesus and the taking up to
heaven of the chosen ones, and which is also one of the stumbling blocks
that Satan uses to deceive and confuse his enemies.
-
-
We must therefore at all times try to ascertain what state of the saint;
whether his soul, spirit or resurrected body the relevant passage is referring
to before making a decision on a prophetic and therefore dimly seen future
certainty.
-
-
The foremost passage of Scripture concerning the coming of Christ Jesus
(popularly called The Rapture) is possibly the following:
-
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which
are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For
if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep
in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word
of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming
of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself
shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,
and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then
we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with
the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
-
(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
-
In verse fourteen we read that those who sleep in Christ Jesus, God will
bring.
-
How can God bring "sleepers" with Him?
-
There is a differentiation between God and Jesus. It would seem therefore
that the Lord as quoted in verses sixteen and seventeen is God the Father?
-
We also see that only the dead in Christ will rise at this time. What about
the other saints of God the Father? It's also mentioned them which sleep
in Jesus, and the dead in Christ. Are these the same saints? How long is
the Lord remaining in the clouds? In other words how long must those that
remain wait before they meet together in the clouds? Immediately? 3½
years? 7 years?
-
In 3:13 we see that Jesus Christ is coming with all His saints. This is
surely a different coming?
-
But He is only coming once more?
-
-
Concerning the various tribulation theories, here are some of God's words:
-
I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man
came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they
brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory,
and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:
his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed. I Daniel was
grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of
my head troubled me. I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked
him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation
of the things. These great beasts, which are four, are four kings,
which shall arise out of the earth. But the saints of the most High
shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever
and ever. Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse
from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron,
and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces,
and stamped the residue with his feet; And of the ten horns that were
in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three
fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very
great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. I beheld,
and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them;
Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given to the saints of
the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth,
which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth,
and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. And the ten horns out
of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another
shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall
subdue three kings. And he shall speak great words against the most
High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change
times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and
times and the dividing of time. But the judgment shall sit, and they shall
take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the
whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High,
whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall
serve and obey him. Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me
Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in
me: but I kept the matter in my heart.
-
(Daniel 7:13-28)
-
We read here in Daniel's vision that:
-
The Son of man (man's Covenant representative) who was given an everlasting
kingdom came with the clouds of heaven.
-
Satan prevailed against the saints for a time and wore out the saints (see
also Daniel 8:23-25).
-
This was for a time and times and half a time. In old parlance this apparently
referred to 3½ years.
-
The kingdom and the greatness thereof shall be given unto the people of
the saints of the Most High. These are resurrected people, not spirits?
Are these the souls and spirits that are joined together?
-
-
Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the
midst of thee. For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle;
and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished;
and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of
the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then shall the LORD go forth,
and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is
before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the
midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be
a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north,
and half of it toward the south. And ye shall flee to the valley
of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal:
yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days
of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all
the saints with thee.
-
(Zechariah 14:1-5)
-
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold,
the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
-
(Jude 1:14)
-
-
Let's see what Jesus Himself said:
-
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately,
saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the
sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and
said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive
many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not
troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is
not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers
places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they
deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated
of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and
shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets
shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound,
the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end,
the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached
in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end
come. When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken
of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let
him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of
his house: Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his
clothes. And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck
in those days! But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither
on the sabbath day: For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not
since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And
except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved:
but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened. Then if any man
shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it
not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall
shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before. Wherefore
if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth:
behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. For
as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west;
so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase
is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Immediately after the tribulation
of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her
light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens
shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven:
and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the
Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And
he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall
gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to
the other. Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet
tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So
likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near,
even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall
not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass
away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth
no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as
the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man
be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and
drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered
into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away;
so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the
field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be
grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch
therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know
this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief
would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house
to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye
think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant,
whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in
due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh
shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler
over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart,
My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants,
and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come
in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is
not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion
with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
-
(Matthew 24:3-51)
-
And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones
and gifts, he said, As for these things which
ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one
stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And they asked
him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will
there be when these things shall come to pass? And he said, Take
heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I
am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after
them. But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified:
for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by
and by. Then said he unto them, Nation shall
rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: And great earthquakes
shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights
and great signs shall there be from heaven. But before all these, they
shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you
up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and
rulers for my name's sake. And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Settle
it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall
answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries
shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. And ye shall be betrayed both
by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of
you shall they cause to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men
for my name's sake. But there shall not an hair of your head perish. In
your patience possess ye your souls. And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed
with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them
which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the
midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter
thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are
written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to
them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in
the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of
the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem
shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles
be fulfilled.
-
(Luke 21:5-24)
-
And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him,
Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! And
Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great
buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not
be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against
the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell
us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when
all these things shall be fulfilled? And Jesus answering them began to
say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: For
many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive
many. And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled:
for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be
yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines
and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows. But take heed
to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues
ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for
my sake, for a testimony against them. And the gospel must first be published
among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you
up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate:
but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is
not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. Now the brother shall betray the
brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against
their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall
be hated of all men for my name's sake: but
he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. But
when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the
prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,)
then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: And let him that
is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein,
to take any thing out of his house: And let him that is in the field not
turn back again for to take up his garment. But woe to them that are with
child, and to them that give suck in those days! And pray ye that your
flight be not in the winter. For in those days shall be affliction,
such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto
this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those
days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath
chosen, he hath shortened the days.
-
(Mark 13:1-20)
-
-
This is repeated?
-
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and
become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came
death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in
Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. But every man
in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's
at his coming. Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered
up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all
rule and all authority and power. For he must reign, till he hath put all
enemies under his feet. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is
death. For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all
things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which
did put all things under him. And when all things shall be subdued unto
him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things
under him, that God may be all in all. Else what shall they do which are
baptised for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptised
for the dead? And why stand we in jeopardy every hour? I protest by your
rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily. If after
the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth
it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.
Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness,
and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this
to your shame. But some man will say, How are the dead raised up?
and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest
is not quickened, except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest
not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or
of some other grain: But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased
him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not the same flesh:
but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts,
another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial
bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is
one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. There
is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another
glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star
in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in
corruption; it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonour; it is
raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: It is sown
a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body,
and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam
was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is
natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As
is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as
is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And
as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image
of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold,
I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet
shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this
mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have
put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then
shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed
up in victory.

(1 Corinthians 15:20-58)
-
We see here that Christ has become the firstfruits of the resurrected and
all others shall follow later, at His coming.
-
Only at the last trump will the dead be raised and we who remain shall
be changed.

These very few Scripture passages have given you and me a start to an understanding,
but it's still very confusing not so?

What is the solution?
-
-
God has given us the answer:
-
Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on
unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead
works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying
on of hands, and of resurrection
of the dead, and of eternal judgment. And this will we do,
if God permit.

(Hebrews 6:1-3)
-
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If
any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that
is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the
world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of
God abideth for ever. Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have
heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists;
whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they
were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt
have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made
manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the
Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye
know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist,
that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same
hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father
also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the
beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain
in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this
is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. These
things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye
need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you
of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught
you, ye shall abide in him. And now, little children, abide in him; that,
when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before
him at his coming. If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every
one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

There is only one way.
-
We must be ready for any eventuality, to the very best of our
ability.
-
-
But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy,
so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written
in the law and in the prophets: And have hope toward God, which they themselves
also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the
just and unjust. And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience
void of offence toward God, and toward men.
-
(Acts 24:14-16)
-
For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that
judgeth me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until
the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness,
and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every
man have praise of God.
-
(1 Corinthians 4:4-5)
-
Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as
Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and
a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
-
Ephesians 5:1-6)
-
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where
Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above,
not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with
Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then
shall ye also appear with him in glory.
-
(Colossians 3:1-4)
-
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud,
but giveth grace to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist
the devil and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God and he will draw
nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners: and purify your hearts, ye
double minded.

labour is not in vain in the Lord.
