A New Creature
-
-
Here is something that is strong meat for those of us who have tasted of
the heavenly gift, the good word of God, and that the Lord is Gracious.
Something that we may not have fully realised before; and this is that
we are new creatures in Christ Jesus, citizens of the Kingdom of heaven
and our home is not of this present earth but the one to come.
-
This means that our first responsibility is to Christ Jesus who
died for us, and all the worldly living follows on thereafter. We are blessed
indeed because we are instructed to obey the laws of the land that we live
in and not bring our Lord's Kingdom into disrepute.
-
While many of us acknowledge this, is it reality in your and my life? Do
we practice it?
-
For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if
one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all,
that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto
him which died for them, and rose again. Wherefore henceforth know we no
man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh,
yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be
in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold,
all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled
us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not
imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word
of reconciliation.
-
(2 Corinthians 5:14-19)
-
Constrain: to restrict by a condition.
-
Reconcile: to restore or bring back to friendship.
-
-
Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you
by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. For
he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might
be made the righteousness of God in him.
-
(2 Corinthians 5:20-21)
-
-
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer,
believing, ye shall receive.
-
Matthew 21:22)
-
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation
be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. [standing by, watching]
Be careful [anxious] for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.
-
(Philippians 4:4-7)
-
Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way
unto you. And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward
another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
-
(1 Thessalonians 3:11-12)
-
Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the
Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to
please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments
we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even
your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every
one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and
honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know
not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any
matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we
also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto
uncleanness, but unto holiness. He therefore that despiseth, despiseth
not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
-
(1 Thessalonians 4:1-8)
-
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease
to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge
of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk
worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened
with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience
and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which
hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who
hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us
into the kingdom of his dear Son:
-
(Colossians 1:9-13)
-
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the
head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
-
(1 Corinthians 11:3)
-
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where
moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust
doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where
your treasure is, there will your heart be also. The light of the body
is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full
of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness.
If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is
that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the
one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the
other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no
thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet
for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and
the body than raiment?
-
(Matthew 6:19-25)
-
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field,
which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not
much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought,
saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall
we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your
heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But
seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these
things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the
morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient
unto the day is the evil thereof.
-
(Matthew 6:30-34)
-
-
We must stop thinking as citizens of humankind and start thinking as citizens
of heaven. We are members of a spiritual kingdom and shall one day be changed
into a spiritual people.
-
-
The Holy Spirit starts manifesting His Presence, His Grace, to us in ways
that we can understand, in worldly ways, as we have all experienced.
-
-
Also, we start experiencing Spiritual grace in signs and wonders that go
beyond our worldly experience; things that we cannot see nor perceive possible.
-
-
We are entrusted with Spiritual gifts that belong to God and which are
used for His purpose while He sees that we remain faithful to the Covenant
made with Him, the Living God of creation. Through the Covenant of His
Son Jesus Christ.

-
-
All that happens to us, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit,
is directed by God; and His purpose firstly is to obtain a harvest of souls
through our participation, and secondly to guide us along the Way to the
Celestial City.
-
-
When we grasp this truth and admit our insignificance in God's blueprint
of eternity, it becomes easier to understand why the Bible is written the
way it is.
-
-
Here are a few examples:
-
And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know
good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the
tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: Therefore the LORD God sent him
forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden
Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way
of the tree of life.
-
(Genesis 3:22-24)
-
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under
the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge
and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee
from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He
shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid
for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by
day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor
for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
-
(Psalms 91:1-6)
-
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing
praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in
the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten
strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For
thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works
of thy hands. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts
are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand
this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of
iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. For, lo, thine enemies,
O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity
shall be scattered.
-
(Psalms 92:1-9)
-
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom
of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven:
and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
-
(Matthew 16:19)
-
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things
are possible to him that believeth.
-
(Mark 9:23)
-
And he said to them all, If any man
will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily,
and follow me.
-
(Luke 9:23)
-
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the
world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth
on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men
loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every
one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest
his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light,
that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
-
(John 3:16-21)
-
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the
Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but
the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am
in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works'
sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works
that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he
do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name,
that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall
ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that
he may abide with you for ever;
-
(John 14:10-16)
-
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants
ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto
righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but
ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
-
(Romans 6:16-18)
-
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded,
support the weak, be patient toward all men. See that none render
evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good,
both among yourselves, and to all men. Rejoice evermore. Pray without
ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ
Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance
of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also
will do it.
-
(1 Thessalonians 5:14-24)
-
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,
where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented
day and night for ever and ever. And I saw a great white throne, and him
that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and
there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great,
stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened,
which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those
things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the
sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up
the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to
their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is
the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life
was cast into the lake of fire.
-
(Revelation 20:10-15)
-
-
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye
shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose
on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
-
(Matthew 18:18)
