The Kingdom of Heaven
-
This writing is for you who understands and practices the teaching given
previously1 on this web site2 and should be read
in conjunction therewith.

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should
come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God
cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there!
for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said unto
the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall
desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.

(Luke 17:20-22)

And he said unto them, He that hath ears to hear,
let him hear. And when he was alone, they that were about him with
the twelve asked of him the parable. And he said unto them, Unto
you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them
that are without, all these things are done in parables: That seeing
they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand;
lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should
be forgiven them. And he said unto them, Know
ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

(Mark 4:9-13)

This is a mystery indeed, but hopefully something more than is written
here shall be revealed even to you by your King as you search for that
pearl of great price.
-
-
Cross references to the passage in Mark are most revealing when one muses
thereon.
-
In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne,
high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the
seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and
with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried
unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts:
the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door
moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.
Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man
of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips:
for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then flew one of the
seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had
taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my
mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is
taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,
Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am
I; send me. And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but
understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of
this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they
see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their
heart, and convert, and be healed. Then said I, Lord, how long? And he
answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses
without man, and the land be utterly desolate, And the LORD have removed
men far away, and there be a great forsaking in the midst of the
land. But yet in it shall be a tenth, and it shall return,
and shall be eaten: as a teil tree, and as an oak, whose substance is
in them, when they cast their leaves: so the holy seed shall
be the substance thereof.

(Isaiah 6:1-13)

But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this
sect, we know that every where it is spoken against. And when they had
appointed him a day, there came many to him into his lodging; to
whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning
Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and out of the prophets, from
morning till evening. And some believed the things which were spoken, and
some believed not. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed,
after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias
the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing
ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not
perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are
dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see
with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand
with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto
the Gentiles, and that they will hear it. And when he had said these
words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves. And
Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that
came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things
which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding
him.

(Acts 28:22-31)
-
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven
is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out
devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor
silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither
two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of
his meat. And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who
in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. And when ye come into
an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon
it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever
shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that
house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you,
It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day
of judgment, than for that city.

It would seem that:
-
God will not let just anyone into His Kingdom. (Genesis 3:22-24; 1 Corinthians
6:9-10)
-
He allows the god of this world, Satan, to screen out undesirables. (Proverbs
5:21-23; Matthew 13:24-30)
-
He uses the power of preaching to awaken the souls of His subjects. (Romans
10:13-21)
-
Man cannot, through preaching, cause anyone to be converted. Only the Holy
Spirit of God can do this; through His grace when He recognises true repentance
and submission. (2 Timothy 2:23-26)
-
There is a holy seed. Abraham's; and it is spiritual as well as worldly.
This is a great mystery that will one day be revealed to us.
-
Because the Holy Spirit is within the reborn, there is instant communication
between God and His subjects which overcomes the physical problems of time
and distance. (John 14:12-17; 1 Corinthians 2:9-12)
-
The Kingdom of heaven is not subject to the rules and restrictions of Satan's
kingdom.
-
Part Two
-
-
Okay, so we acknowledge that the Kingdom of God is within us. Do you
believe it? Do I?
-

Here is the passage in Luke again:
-
And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should
come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God
cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there!
for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. And he said unto
the disciples, The days will come, when ye shall
desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and ye shall not see it.
-
(Luke 17:20-22)

The people had been taught, and were expecting that when the Messiah came,
He would form a Kingdom on this earth, a physical Kingdom that would be
more powerful than all other kingdoms and which would overcome them. In
the days of Jesus of Nazareth, the Messiah would have had to overcome the
Roman Empire. In the minds of the people this was impossible, so Jesus
couldn't be the Messiah.??
-
-
They couldn't believe.
-
-
Here's another very revealing passage of Scripture:
-
And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus
had done for him: and all men did marvel. And when Jesus was passed
over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him:
and he was nigh unto the sea. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers
of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point
of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may
be healed; and she shall live. And Jesus went with him; and much
people followed him, and thronged him. And a certain woman, which had an
issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians,
and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew
worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched
his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in
her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately
knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in
the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee,
and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that
had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what
was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made
thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. While he yet
spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain
which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler
of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
-
(Mark 5:20-36)
-
And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh
the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and
entereth in where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand,
and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is,
being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the
damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years.
And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
-
(Mark 5:40-42)
-
On this occasion we read of only two instances where the people saw with
their eyes the power of the Messiah - the power of the Kingdom. Yet they
crucified Him.
-
-
They saw with their eyes, but could not perceive.
-
-
We would dearly love to see one of the days of the Son of man, but shall
not see it.
-
-
Can we hear with our ears and understand with our hearts?
